My father's grandmother was a servant there to William and Julia Stout in 1871 when she was 19 years old. And his great-great-grandfather died there falling off a hayrick in 1890.

The picture is the farm where my father Roy Brown was born. The farm was actually called Broom Hall Farm. The Warrens my great grandparents were tenants when the farm was part of the Copped Hall estate. The Warrens had to give up the tenancy when the old Lord of the manor died and death duties had to be paid. The Warrens couldn't afford to buy the freehold so had to give up the farm in 1936...GJB
